THE PASSING – A poem for those who have lost beloved pets, by Evelyn Smith
NOTE BY NANCY: My sister wrote a poem for those who have recently lost a dearly beloved pet. On this Memorial Day, we remember all those loved ones who have passed to another dimension–family, friends, and pets.

THE PASSING
In the corner, place of many naps…
The faded pillow lies…
A well chewed toy tucked in its folds…
Food and water bowls filled…
All awaiting his return…
Where is the joyful welcome…
The warm cuddle in my chair…
The weight at the foot of the bed at night…?
My beloved companion has passed…
His joy and love unmeasured…
Leaving a vast, silent emptiness all around…
Where could this sweet soul have gone…
where…where…?
I have no proof in hand to give…
My heart knows… my Soul’s at ease…
My companion waits for me… to greet…
In fields of Heaven bright…
To run, once more, to fill my arms…
To kiss my face… a bundle of joy and love,
To introduce me to paradise.
